I have a bunch of Google Wave invites sitting around here. I’ve already given away the ones I was holding for friends. That leaves me with 17 67 to get rid of. Time for a random drawing!!
You can earn up to three entries into the drawing by doing any or all of the following things:
- Follow me on Twitter (@Torgorama)
- Comment below with a valid e-mail address and what excites you about Google Wave
- Re-tweet the following “Get a Google Wave invite from @Torgorama – http://bit.ly/LyoZ6″
Next Saturday (11/14/2009) I’ll pick random winners. This is my first contest, if it goes well,I’ll see about getting my hands on some REAL prizes in the future.
UPDATE: I just got another 50 invites to add to the pool. That means I’m giving out a total of 67 Google Wave invites on Saturday. If you haven’t thrown your name in, now would be the time to do it.
Google Wave Invite Needed
Oct 16
I think the title says it all. I’m all crazy waiting to test out Google Wave. The only thing I have to offer in return is a Google Voice invite. Anyone wanna be awesome?
Self Classification
Sep 1
I’m a geek. I’ve worked in IT for years. Most of that time was spent as a network administrator, some of it was also spent writing VERY minimal ColdFusion and PHP. I’ve never had a job as a full-on developer. I’ve been using ColdFusion for 10 years, and I’m proficient with most of the ins and outs of how it works. It’s mostly just been a hobby for me. The only time I’ve ever been paid to do any kind of development was when I wrote a back-end tool to save some manual effort at a job of mine, and a few pieces here and there I did for Free Talk Live. Sure, I’ve always wanted to be a professional developer, but that’s just not the way the career has gone up to this point. It took me a while to figure out how to classify where my skill level and experience fit….
From this point on, I wish to be known as a “recreational ColdFusion developer”.
Anyone else?
Day Job and Delays
Aug 19
I know it’s been a while since I was supposed to be fixing the issues with TweetBomb. I’ve been a bit busy with the day job and the kids getting ready for back to school, so I haven’t had much time (read: none at all) to devote to it. Sorry for the delays. I’ve figured out what the cause of the issue was, at least. It looks like during the DDoS attacks that Twitter was suffering lately, their API (understandably) became somewhat unreliable. Unfortunately, the way I had the queue system set up, I didn’t handle broken API results properly and it hosed the entire queue.
I’m going to be re-working the entire back-end portion of the system over the next couple of days. Now that the children are back in school, I’ll probably have more time to work on it. When all is said and done, there will be no more queue. Once you submit your Twitter credentials, the system should start deleting your old tweets almost immediately. I’ll let everyone know when it’s back up and running properly.
Also, I got whitelist approval from Twitter for the app, so it should no longer go against your personal API request limit for the hour. This means that you won’t have to worry about TweetDeck (or your other Twitter client of choice) being unable to keep up with your Twitter stream because you run out of API calls.
Again, sorry for the delays. Look for news soon.
Last week I posted a bit of code for mass-deleting tweets using ColdFusion. Apparently “delete all tweets” is a fairly popular Google search term and tons of people wandered over to that entry. Unfortunately, my instructions were no good for most of those people. So…to be helpful…I made a quick app to do it for you.
TweetBomb will automatically delete all of the tweets in your Twitter account. Just enter your Twitter username and password in the form, and you’re good to go. I don’t keep any passwords for even a moment longer than it takes to delete all of your tweets. Read the about page on the TweetBomb site if you have any questions. If they aren’t answered there, feel free to contact me.
Hope this helps!
UPDATE: TweetBomb is apparently broken. Looks like I hosed up my queue management. I’m taking it offline until I can figure out what went wrong. Sorry for the trouble.
I’m Over Here Now…
Jul 18
I decided to move my blog over here to torgorama.com so that way I could use nanowerx.com for business related purposes. I’ll be blogging over here about most anything and everything I find interesting. This means that I’ll probably bore most people to tears, but I don’t care.
That is all for now.
